This Charming Man - Every Little Secret...

Brian Fallon's band before Gaslight Anthem. Sounds just like Gaslight, so if you're a fan of them, you will like this band. Sometimes You Eat the Bar is my favorite. Check this out.

Trial By Fire - Ringing in the Dawn

Listen to Steps of St. John and try not to singalong. Trial by Fire is a very fun punk band out of DC that, to my chagrin, is constantly looked over and forgotten. Ringing in the Dawn was their only full length off Jade Tree, and one that I enjoy when I'm doing something stressful. Download this and singalong with me at the next show.

Best Clash Cover I've heard....

I normally hate recorded cover songs. I don't know what it is about them, but they never capture any of the fun that is included when seeing them live; however, I'm making an exception here. Philly's The Menzinger's did an amazing cover of "Straight to Hell" and deserves some recognition. I heard them do this song live when I saw them in DC and was blown away from the originality they put in it and was curious when I saw that it was included on their CD. I expected it to be lacking in some department; however, it is very solid and very well done. Kudos.

Look at Pat's face.

Pulling Teeth - Witches Sabbath I-IV

I get asked for these particular albums frequently, so I'd thought it best to put them up. These are recorded cover songs performed by Pulling Teeth treking from Nirvana to Black Sabbath to Poison Idea to the Ramones. Personally, I'm never a fan of recorded covers; and my taste does not change towards Pulling Teeth's efforts - I love hearing these songs live; however, recorded just doesn't do it for me. Still something cool to listen to and have. Enjoy and buy Paranoid Delusions/Paranoid Illusions.

Desperate Measures - Never Enough Time

One of my favorite youth crew albums; locally at least. I never had the opportunity to see Desperate Measures, but I'm still a very big fan of theirs. Very great youth crew band with ex members of No Justice. Never Enough Time is my favorite release by them, and something I continually listen to while writing reports or doing anything that sucks. No excuse not to check this band out.

Last Lights - No Past No Present No Future

Last Lights is a band that I was a big fan and supporter of. From the first instance when I saw them for the first time at the Corpse Fortress, I was instantly blown away by the energy and intensity of this band. Dom, as you probably know, has since made a legacy for himself by leaving life too young with so much left for him to say. No Past No Present No Future is the discography of Last Lights including the Demo, self titled seven inch, split with Bad Habit, as well as an unreleased instrumental song. Fans of the Suicide File, American Nightmare, and Panic will automatically be turned on by Last Lights tempo and riff resemblance. Dom's lyrics may have been some of the best writing I have read from a newer band, as he focuses on the futileness of education, the failures of the American Dream, as well as the oppressiveness that reality has over a 20 something working individual. Everyone should check this band out and order the CD or LP. All the money will go towards Dom's family. Everyone, do yourselves a favor and check this band out.
